Proudly presents
THE NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS
& 23 Man COCA COLA ROYAL RUMBLE
Thursday 5th December
Four titles are on the line!
It’s Cape Town’s ultimate wrestling event, in its fiercest format. That’s right, the Africa Wrestling Alliance is proud to end 2013 with a big bang in the shape of the House of Pain event at the Parow Civic Centre. In addition to big name matchups and title bouts, the fight night will culminate in a 23-man Coca Cola Royal Rumble battle where the last man standing will exit the ring with this highly coveted belt. While this may be the highlight of the evening, it is by no means the only match worth making the effort to see. In fact, the AWA have prepared an extended talent pool for this event.
TITLE FIGHT: HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE CHALLENGE
The Oz faces off against The Missing Link in a battle for the Heavyweight belt. Oz is the current title-holder so will have to fend off a hard charging Missing Link, who has not kept his desire for the belt a secret up until now. In fact, he’s out for blood. To quote the big man, “No matter what happens, I’m leaving with that belt.” Scary stuff.
TITLE FIGHT: ELIMINATION CRUISERWEIGHT ROUND
Four men enter. One man leaves a champion. Max “The Body”, Johnny Palazzio and Vinnie Vegas will be thrown into battle with a fourth man, a relative newcomer to the AWA, by the name of David Finlay. If that name sounds familiar that’s because he is the son of Dave ‘Fit’ Finlay - a producer at WWE and a talented wrestler in his own right, having held over twenty championships during his career. Young David will be making his House of Pain debut, but don’t hold that against this natural talent. He might just emerge with the Cruiserweight belt, being a fourth generation wrestler after all. Will Vinnie Vegas be able to retain his title or will Finlay leave South Africa with it around his waist?
TITLE FIGHT: TOWBARS CAPE LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE
It’s an agile pair-up in the shape of The Little Hillbilly and Zaheer Bayat. Each man has had plenty of experience in the AWA’s squared circle, so this one should be a hotly contested brawl. In the one corner, we have a technical combatant in the larger shape of Bayat, but how will he fare against the high-flying aerial tactics of Hillbilly?
CONTRASTING STYLES
The next match-add is a bit of an odd one. In one corner we have Sammy Swiegers, a mixed martial artist who’s made the transition to successful mat man. In the other, the flamboyant and exuberant Miss Gorgeous, a sensational wrestler with a very, shall we say ‘challenging’ ring etiquette. They’re both seasoned veterans, anyone could take this.
FRESH BLOOD
Ed Electric will be facing off against the AWA’s newest fighter, Mark Fantastic. This is the newcomer’s third fight, and has been making steady progress thanks to his high levels of endurance and natural fighting instinct. Both men have been known to enjoy dancing around the ring, but just like their fighting styles, they couldn’t be more different. Will experience take this one, or will Mark leave the ring victorious?
That’s the entire line-up for this annual showcase event for the AWA’s House of Pain Royal Rumble event. If you’re a fan of great wrestling, then don’t miss out!
