SOUTH AFRICA’S FINEST WRESTLING TALENT WILL BE COMPETING for top honors in the annual 22 man COCA-COLA ROYAL RUMBLE where the last man standing is declared the winner. This has been an annual event taking place each December since its inception 8 years ago! Our current champion William McQueen will be doing his best to defend his title when he, as first man in, enters the ring to battle all challengers in an attempt to retain the title of SA`s COCA-COLA ROYAL RUMBLE CHAMPION for the second year running.
In one of the main supporting bouts the SA Cruiser Weight Title is up for grabs. This event has been named “THE LAST MAN STANDING” not only in honour of the Royal Rumble’s rise to glory format, but also in reference to the SA Cruiser Weight Title bout where current champion Johnny “The Italian Stallion” Palazzio (from Durbanville) has to defend his big mouth against 3 of SA`s top cruiser weights. His competitors are the inimitable Vinnie Vegas (from Mitchells Plain); rumbling William McQueen (from Ruyterwacht) and the face painted villainous “Warlock” (from Kraaifontain).
The winner is declared via a process of elimination after a fallen wrestler gets pinned and subsequently counted out, he is forced to exit the ring so that the remaining wrestlers may duel for the next pinfall - the last man standing will be the winner. Two upcoming superstars, Cape Town mat-men El Matador (Table View resident) and Revyv (hailing from Goodwood) are pitted against each other at last in a clash that will reverberate off the rafters. Add to this the usual motley crew of wrestlers such as Shaun Koen, the Missing Link, BDX-treme, the Oz, The Blankman, Nitro and Rastaman – and you’re in for an action-packed night of broken bones and bloodied brows.

Capoeira is a 400-year-old martial art that blends music, dance, singing, and acrobatics to create a holistic approach to teaching self-defense. Originating in Africa, Capoeira was brought to Brazil by captured slaves from Angola. In this foreign land the Angolan people developed their practice into a method of defending themselves against their violent masters. A characteristic of Capoeira that helped to mask its purpose of defense is the avoidance of direct contact and threatening movements against an opponent. For this reason, modern capoeiristas still prize sneakiness and cunning over strength and aggression.
It can only be described as crazy when a whole family decides to enter into fighting disciplines! Nizaam Hartley is well known in the AWA circle and, more so, after he broke his leg during the TV show. Now his children are following in his footsteps to be the next fighting sensations. On Sunday 5th October the second annual national Capoeira competition was held in Randburg, Johannesburg. Thaakir Hartley, 8, mesmerized the crowd with his lightning fast acrobatic skills. His flair, speed and unwavering energy had the crowd cheering for more. Not to be ousted, his brother Ubaid,9, displayed unusual technical ability and took second place. The Hartley brothers have been learning the art of capoeira for the past 3 years and have recently even managed to convince mum, Mymoena to join! They are students of Beleza Graduado, of the Abada Capoeira group and can usually be seen training and playing at the Observatory Community Centre. By Pierre Steyn When a professional wrestler like Shaun Koen, a three time All Africa Heavyweight Champion, walks into the room, heads turn and the conversation dries up.
This man mountain is massive, his 172kg packed into a frame that?s almost two metres long. His intimidating wrestling persona, better known as 'The Lion of Africa', will make small babies (and some grown men) wet their nappies. Which neatly brings us to the BMW X6, one of the most controversial and head-turning cars we've driven all year. BMW claims it's the world's first sports activity coupe, marrying the design and dynamic abilities of a large coupe with the dominating size and four-wheel drive of an X model.
It's the equivalent of Shaun Koen pounding his opponent into submission in the ring and then doing a sub ten second 100m sprint for fun straight afterwards.
